History and Background
Our founder and president James Selisker had always been fascinated with refrigeration and electrical installations. His electrical contracting business began in 1985 with two other “employees” – his wife and nephew. Soon enough, the company grew to 10 employees working out of Cerritos and by the end of the twentieth century, the company employed over 20 employees now running out of La Mirada.
By servicing refrigeration electrical and controls, Alpha has been the electrical contracting industry as the premier small business to approach for projects bids. In the past 5 years, Alpha has also added an in house design department in order to provide out customers with in house design build capabilities, hence carving out a further niche in the industry. In additional to refrigeration electrical, Alpha also boasts of a estimator who specializes in commercial buildings as well as publicly funded projects.
Currently Alpha occupies a building in Santa Fe Springs, ideal location for meeting customer needs whether they be located in the heart of Los Angeles, South Orange County or the Inland Empire. We have also extended our services to cities such as Fresno, Yuma, Las Vegas, and Fort Worth. We have over 30 employees and are excited about our continual growth.
Mission Statement
We believe in providing out customers with competitive prices and superior quality products. In order to accomplish this core mission, we believe the following statements are essential:
- We believe that a satisfied employee means that production is at its highest quality and efficiency, the work place is at its safest. This will enable us to increase our competitiveness in our prices. Therefore, we continue to find ways to be more respectful and more transparent towards and better reward each and everyone of our employees, even the ones we wouldn’t want to hang out with after work.
- We believe that a trained employee means answered questions, creative cost cutting strategies, and the very best representation of the faith our customers put in our performance. Therefore, we meet with our electricians monthly, or as needed basis, to educate them on various aspects of electrical construction.
- We believe that a safe employee means first and foremost the preservation of life and livelihood of our employees as well as those on the construction sight. A safe workplace also allows us to deliver better pricing to our customers. To this end, we require a daily, weekly, as well as monthly safety reminders/tailgates/tests to educate our employees and foster a keener awareness of safety in the workplace.
Directors & Staff
James Selisker: Led for over 20 years by our indefatigable president, Alpha continues to draw our strength, electrical knowledge, and business direction from this man. From humble beginnings repairing discarded refrigerators for resale, James now commands one of the leading electrical construction firms in Southern California, which boasts of its growing construction, service, and design departments.
Lawrence Johnson: Once he realized that with great desire (kids) came great responsibility (not surfing), Larry embarked on a career change from carpentry to electrical construction. Equipped with a penchant and inexhaustible curiosity and willingness to learn, Larry was soon promoted to a supervisory role for the construction crew. Driven by a philosophy that satisfied employees produce quality products, Larry acts as an advocate for the field, and assists us with improving working conditions.
Rick Savoia: Having conquered all that there is to know in commercial construction and tenant improvements, Rick now brings his expertise to Alpha's estimating department. With an eye for high quality for low prices, Rick takes advantage of our ever increasingly effective and competent workforce in order to bring our customers his very best ever bid. Little known qualities of Rick include his leadership and culinary skills displayed in presiding as manager and chef over a lunch club at work, preparing mouth watering sandwiches and salads, day in and day out.
